YOUTH TREATMENT SERVICES
Far from being an isolated problem, early and persistent Substance use is part of a syndrome of problem behaviors that affect not only the youth themselves, but their families and communities as well. Academic difficulties, criminal activity, health-related consequences, poor peer and family relationships, mental health issues, early sexual activity and teen pregnancy often accompany Substance use. Adolescence is an important time of physical growth and psycho-social maturation, and Substance use interferes with these normal developmental phenomena. Substance use can cause delays or long-term deficits in normal physical, intellectual, social, and emotional development. When Substance use begins at an early age, it can result in permanent developmental and neurological damage.
Many adolescent treatment programs utilize the Youth Treatment Guidelines to specialize treatment for youth with substance use disorders. Some counties require that their youth treatment programs comply with the Guidelines as a condition of receiving funding.

Youth Outpatient Drug Free & School-Based
A comprehensive substance abuse treatment and counseling program that includes aftercare and a supportive Drop-In Center for youth ages 14-17. These services are also offered through Minor Consent and Drug Medi-Cal in various schools through referrals, for qualified youth. Referrals from schools, parents, other agencies and the youth themselves are welcome.
