The Kings County Behavioral Health Advisory Board is comprised of members/volunteers from the community who are committed to quality Mental Health Services as well as Alcohol and Other Drug Prevention/Treatment programs.

To work together in partnership and collaboration with community programs to deliver quality Behavioral Health services in Kings County.
Our Mission:
Represent the community of Kings County as an advisory board to Kings County Behavioral Health and Board of Supervisors. Provide oversight and monitoring of the local Behavioral Health Systems and advocate for persons with behavioral health issues.

The Purpose of the Board is to perform the powers and duties as follows:
(1) Review and evaluate the community's mental health, prevention, intervention and treatment services, facilities, and related special problems. (2) Review proposed County agreements for mental health and alcohol and other drug (“AOD”) services. (3) Advise the Board of Supervisors, the local Behavioral Health Director and AOD Program Administrator (“Administrator”) as to any aspect of the local mental health and AOD programs. (4) Review and approve the procedures used to ensure citizen and professional involvement at all stages of the planning process. (5) Submit an annual report to the Board of Supervisors on the needs and performance of the County's mental health system. (6) Review and make recommendations to the Board of Supervisors on applications for appointment of a local director of mental health services. (7) Review and comment on the County's performance outcome data and communicate its findings to the Board of Supervisors and the California Mental Health Planning Council. (8) Sponsor and/or endorse Prevention and Intervention events and activities in the community. (9) Assess the impact of the realignment of services from the State to the County, on services delivered to clients in the local community. (10) Other duties as assigned or delegated by the Board of Supervisors. |
